Family Jewels

Aside from family heirlooms, the kind of jewelry and other mementos with family-tied-emotional value making heirloom jewelry pieces worth way more than the most reasonable monetary offer sometimes. The emotional value connected to memories of someone or something can make the most insignificant looking things take on the value of the Hope Diamond when it comes to considering whether or not to part with it. With the above thought in mind, I set out to create a family tree keepsake that would mark special occasions and accomplishments worth remembering and came up with this artwork.

Of course, "families" are way more diverse and dynamic than my artistic representation shows but my thinking was simply mother, father, (parents) providing the roots (food, shelter, education) to grow healthy children in whatever dynamic make up a family unit combination there might be.
